Advertising Me

Convergence is nearly upon us and I'm trying to get a little planning in. The estimate about 4000 people attending this year and it would be a shame not to make the most of all that advertising potential. We did the planning for the video Sunday and I should be getting my schedule soon. We're trying to arrange the shoots so that we're not running from one end of the hotel to another with a 2 minute window. Not to mention that having time to pee is really nice.

Today I'm meeting Quentin at the MOA to see the new Terminator movie. I hear it sucks, but whatever, I don't care. I'll get to see Quentin and have popcorn. That makes it a really good day.

Joe (my father) is talking about coming up here in July. It will be nice to see him again, but I'll still be living here, with all my boxes. I guess he'll just have to make another trip to see the new house. Which makes me think, isn't that a good excuse for anyone to come visit? Hmmmm.

Buffy, the Quiet Slayer

Well, the move is done. I finished up Thursday night and then sat on my butt Friday and today, resting. I can't remember the last time I've been so tired. I'm feeling better now though and it's time to get back on track. Tomorrow I meet with the rest of the Convergence videographers and plan out the convention that starts Thursday. Four days of being on my feet. I'm so excited. (Hear the sarcasm?) Anyway, at least I should have some pictures for you that are not of flowers.

Being in someone else's house is a little unsettling. It's weird to have all your things in boxes and you schedule upset. It's time to make a new one. Time to get back to work. It's so quite out here. No rail, no traffic. You can actually see the stars, it's so dark. We've been enjoying that every night. It's also weird to hear other people moving about. This is a townhouse, so people are right on the other side of the wall. I keep thinking someone is in the house, but Joco knows better and only is bothered when someone comes to the door. Sometimes it's really nice to have a big dog, especially when your husband is out every night doing a show.

There's central air, which Joco, the cats and Edwin have been enjoying. There's a large wide screen HD TV which Edwin has been making the most of. Today Kevin came over and brought some movies that were really fun, but I'm back to being alone in the quiet. I've been watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer from season one on Hulu.com for company. I'm used to noise. I like noise. I grew up in the middle of the city. I wonder if I'll get used to the quiet before we move again.

As I'm sure you can tell, I'm still really scattered. It's physically and emotionally tiring moving like that. I feel like all my nerves are raw. Soon, I'm sure it will all settle down. My body is feeling much better, almost all the swelling is gone. Now my brain just has to follow. Convergence will help. I'll have to be focused. I'll have no choice.

Well, back to Buffy I go.

Another Day

Yet another day of cleaning at the house with no air conditioner. I am sooo looking forward to it. Ha. The high today is 88, so it actually will be cooler. Crazy, isn't it? Today though, I have help. Emily's sister Rory is meeting me at the house and Emily will be coming after work. It will be nice having time with Rory, even if we are working. I haven't seen her for a while and we can get caught up before she starts college.

Edwin is dragging too. With work, the show and moving he's showing signs of wear. But at least it will be over soon. I really want to be done. Who knew we'd have August weather in June? It's really made this more difficult than it should have been. But hey, maybe when we move in August we'll get June weather. I can hope.

Ow

I'm finally getting close to done with all of this. Yesterday Edwin and I worked at the house getting more of the little stuff moved to the new place. I keep telling myself that we're almost there anyway. It's really exhausting in this heat. Well, I'm sure it would be exhausting anyway, but the heat makes it miserable. But... almost done.

I'm also not looking forward to the Convergence convention this year. Maybe I will be excited when I get a chance to rest, but right now it seems like too much to do. It runs 4 days this year and is only a week and a half away. I have no costume, no art in the show. (Last year I won the best professional piece in the show.) It's a little sad, but I promised to film again this year, so I will. I hope I can find my comfy shoes.

The Move

Well, we did it. We finally moved. There are still a few small things at the house, and I'm going back to clean all this week, but the big stuff is done. And we're here.

We moved in on Saturday. It was the only day Edwin didn't have to work and there was only one show, so after a really long, hard day of moving he had to go do the show. I sat here on my butt and groaned. Kevin, Stacey, Dave and Emily helped. Stacey, who has health issues was in charge of Joco. Emily, moved the pictures and other delicate items in her car. The rest of us hauled everything else. We were all dehydrated from moving on such a hot day.

I'm a little nervous about what got damaged in the move. I know my sideboard took two gashes across the top. I just keep telling myself that anything that didn't survive I didn't really love. Emily had my camera and computer and Kevin had my keyboard, so I knew those were safe. The cats and the dog are here with Edwin and I, so everything else is just stuff, right?

Did I say how sore I am? It's whine time! I hurt. Yesterday, while Edwin had to get through two shows and an audition, I sat on my butt and watched Buffy Episodes on Hulu.com. I still hurt. I have bruises everywhere, some cuts scrapes and lots of swelling. I look like I've been fighting. I should make up a good story. The swelling is better today. My feet and hands are starting to show that they have bones again. But today it's back to work, and back to the old house to clean and get the little stuff that didn't make the move. I cannot wait until this is over. *deep breath*

More Caffeine Please

There was a great electrical storm last night. I ran out to take pictures, but in the city it's hard to find a place not obscured but streetlights and power lines. I got one shot of the lightning before it started to rain. It's not very good, but I was still excited to get it. It's my first picture of lightning.

Using a long exposure also means that cars look pretty cool.

I Love this. It ROCKS!

Two days until we move and I'm exhausted. I gave in and asked Edwin to bring me home a case of diet Mountain Dew. (He brought two!) Usually I try to stay away from the chemicals, but drastic measures are needed! I'm finding it harder and harder to sleep as we get closer to Saturday. I lay there thinking about what I need to do next and can't seem to shut my brain off. The Mountain Dew probably wont help the sleeping problem. :-) Oh well, soon it will be over. Until the next time...

Art, Gardens and Jumping

Mary's House. Front.

Yesterday we went to Mary's house for sewing circle. The plan was to see her garden, but it rained. Jane W. and I walked around with our umbrellas and got a look anyway. But, no pictures for you except for the shots from the front and back porch. I used the fisheye lens to get in as much as possible, but you still can't see the gardens. They were just beautiful. Maybe we'll get another chance.

Mary's house. Back.

This is now my favorite "Jump" picture. Makes me want to go out and take some, but I must pack. Saturday is almost here and I have to be ready. I can't wait to be done.

Ok, you should probably not steal your art supplies, but still, I have to say that I love this. It cracked me up. Can you imagine seeing this as you are driving by at night?

Packing and Work

Things I've learned while packing.

Don't cut your thumb up while playing with the dog. It makes packing harder.
If you pack the basement and the garage, and bugs really like the taste of you, well... you get the picture.
Dog and cat hair fly through the air to get to the packing tape.
Leo loves packing tape and will peal it off of the boxes I've finished.
Cheap packing tape doesn't stick.
You have to be really good at Tetris to pack up a small house.

Why can't I get paid to do studies like this?

"Caffeine, sleeplessness linked in teenagers"
"Beautiful people earn more money "
“Bikinis Instigate Generalized Impatience in Intertemporal Choice”

Really, they could just ask me and I'd tell them the answer. No wait time, and I'd only charge half. I'd even use big words to make it sound scientific.

Even More Flowers

Flowers from Jane W's garden.

I went to sewing circle Tuesday with my camera. Jane W. has the most amazing garden. I couldn't resist getting some pictures before we got to work on our projects.

Jane W. working on her rug.

Jane will be working on her rug forever. We talk so much that she can never get more than a row or two done each time. Her house is filled with roses. Rose pictures, rose vases and anything rose. The rug will fit in perfectly when it is finally finished.

Another flower from her garden.

And another.

Jane B's baby blanket.

Mary's quilt.

Next time we meet we're making it a field trip to Mary's house. Be prepared for more flower pictures. She is an avid gardener as well as a quilter. I don't know where she finds the time.

You love 'em or you hate 'em. I think they're cute.

Pam is in town for a visit and came over to help me weed. We had lunch with Edwin and then went to see his show. It's such a fun play. I wish I could see it one more time.
